Some GOOD NEWS in the Credit CrunchThe Credit Crunch – All Gloom and Doom? These are depressing days for many in the UK, with the poor state of the housing market, rising household bills, food and petrol prices and stagnant or falling salaries in real terms. Yet despite the media over-hype, there are some tiny chinks of light, and some things that maybe we should look on the positive side of. The fall in consumer confidence hits many industries quite hard, and none more so that furniture and home furnishings. This sector is always one of the first to feel the squeeze – as the purchase of that new bed, sofa or total room makeover is deferred until times are better. Retailers competing for fewer and fewer sales inevitably leads to falling prices and a buyer’s market, so if you do have some money to spare, there will always be bargains to be had in the short-term. Unfortunately in the long term this will lead to reduced consumer choice, as the less nimble and adaptable businesses fail to survive. These are often not the smaller ones but larger empires which have been financed on borrowed money – the recent failure of ILVA is a case in point. Gladly we are a smaller, privately owned business with no borrowings. For us, the way forward is to continue to innovate and bring to you the new and exciting products which you all crave, at affordable prices, of course. Over the next couple of months we shall be introducing a huge array of keenly-priced products new to the marketplace, in each of our sectors of occasional furniture, lighting, mirrors, wall art and accessories. If you are not already registered to receive our free emails of product updates, please do so here, we are sure you will find something to inspire! In the meantime we have taken advantage of market conditions and found some real bargains available NOW – but these are short-term offers only while stocks last, so don’t delay! If you are trying to sell a property, there is no better advantage in a buyer’s market to present that property in its best possible light – and the discerning purchase of a few new furnishing centrepieces can often make the difference and pay dividends in the final price yield If you have any queries about us or any of our products, please do not hesitate to ask. We are a family-run business and pride ourselves on excellence in customer service; nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to hearing from you. Our best wishes
